Navigating Wellness: Addressing the Complexities of Illness and Care
Wellness
The hardship faced from illness is real, as are the transformation and changes in the person (patient).
Though sick people may react differently to the hardships and challenges of their specific illnesses, it is also a fact that patients, caregivers, and all other professionals within the wellness value chain experience a variety of needs, depending on the nature of their conditions.
Research into lifestyle diseases like cancer shows that it is a serious problem in modern medicine. Tumors cause around 90,000 deaths annually worldwide, with 120,000 new cases each year. The number of deaths caused by cancer has doubled in women and tripled in men over the last 40 years. The World Health Organization has confirmed that cancer is currently more deadly than cardiovascular diseases. Within the next 5 years, the number of new diagnoses each year is predicted to increase from 19 million to 21.7 million by 2030 and 24 million by 2035.
Cancer survival rates vary across countries because healthcare systems differ, and disparities in access to healthcare exist within countries. Generally speaking, earlier detection and diagnosis of cancer are associated with improved outcomes and survival. However, there is some variation in survival rates between high-income countries and lower-income countries, with the latter generally having lower survival rates. Treatment for cancer is expensive, and not being financially prepared is itself a significant challenge.
Patients diagnosed with lifestyle diseases like cancer have a high level of unmet needs, from anxiety, despair, and depression to feelings of helplessness. These are psychological needs for support and medical information.
More importantly,
The financial burden of coping with this hardship can be exhausting. Whether as caregivers administering support to loved ones or clients, or as professionals treating the sick, everyone faces challenges at different levels in coping with the disease.
Cancer changes the lives of patients and their loved ones, causing both physical and psychological suffering and trauma. It also affects their social, spiritual, and general well-being. A cancer diagnosis is a threat to one’s sense of security, and the emotions accompanying the disease disrupt everyday life.
As a wellness development and support agency, Broad Shoulders Tribe LTD/GTE is committed to designing tailored solutions in the form of training and therapy for caregivers, comprehensive support for patients, interventions by manufacturing organic products after thorough social research, and more.

NSIA-LUTH Outreach: Bridging Gaps in Healthcare
Outreach
In partnership with NSIA and LUTH, Broad Shoulders Tribe organized an outreach program aimed at bridging gaps in healthcare for underserved communities. The outreach was not just an opportunity to provide essential medical services but also to foster a sense of care and support among the patients and healthcare providers.
Our team provided crucial support to the patients, offering them the care and attention they deserved. While the outreach was limited in scope, the impact was profound. It underscored the importance of accessible healthcare and the role that organizations like ours play in making a difference in the lives of those in need.
The NSIA-LUTH Outreach was a reminder that even small acts of support can have a significant impact on the well-being of individuals and communities. At Broad Shoulders Tribe, we remain committed to continuing our efforts to improve healthcare access and support for all.
